August Calpaca Meeting
Presentation: Understanding Llama and Alpaca Color Phenotype, Genetics and the Chemistry of Color, by Debby Ullrich. Debby is completing a book on this topic. She is a llama breeder but has been asked by the alpaca community to research alpaca color also. This will be a fun and educational topic.

Neonatal Clinic
Dr. Robin Skillman, DVM
If you have breeding females and are fairly new to alpaca ownership, a neonatal clinic may be the most important workshop you will take. The class will include
- Reproductive anatomy and physiology
- Breeding and pregnancy diagnosis
- Gestational development
- Care of pregnant dam
- Normal and abnormal criation
- Care of normal crias
- High-risk crias
The clinic includes a hands-on lab to help you prepare for handling a dystocia (abnormal position). Learn to determine the position of the cria, how to correct some dystocias and when to call the vet.
Dr. Robin Skillman is a graduate of UC Davis Veterinary School, has a food and fiber large animal practice, and has been working with camelids for over 20 years.
Cost: $125 / person. $200 for two people from the same ranch.
Includes lunch, continental breakfast, and course materials.
Time: 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
