Its going to be a busy fall 2017 here at Derwydd, so if you plan on a fall breeding with Zep, reserve early, as we will only be doing a set number of breedings to him, then he gets to rest till Feb when he starts again. This incredible 14X Champion/Reserve Champion at age 4 stills holds a fabulous histogram! AFD 17.7, SD 3.7, CV 21.1, %>30 0.5!!!! WOW! With a handsome look and conformation to boot, he is a great one to breed to. His babie are incredible. Skin Biopsy (by Norm Evans, DVM) "Snowmass Elite Iceman" was born 7/14/2013 so he was biopsied at 4 years of age. His 15X scan shows fiber clusters uniform in shape and placement within his connective tissue. He grades a true density of 80 follicles SQ MM. Observe the 6 fiber clusters in the S/P view that show an S/P of 13.0 to 1. Twenty five clusters show an average S/P of 13.3 to 1. He shows level 3 of 4 glands and virtually none of his secondary fibers show medullation as determined by the red spot in the center of the fibers. 100 typical secondary fibers averaged 16.6 microns while 50 typical primary fibers averaged 21.5 microns for a variation of only 4.9 microns. These stats figure an AFD of only 16.97 microns which is amazing for a 4 yr old huacaya male. Based on all genetically passed fiber traits, Iceman has got to be one of the top fiber males that I have evaluated for his mature age.

UPDATE: sometime in the summer of 2018, Manchu quit producing sperm. We finally tested and confirmed in spring of 2019. He had a long run and produced many outstanding cria. We are thrilled to still have daughters, sons and grandlkids still in the herd. He is retired to live out his time in the old guys pasture. Daisy is a farm favorite by all our visitors. She is one of the first to greet people. She carries a beautiful soft fleece and her stature has her always ready for a picture. Daisy has strong color genetics and I believe there is a good chance of a grey cria with her genetic background. She is currently being bred to to RR Spinosa (TB)....

Spinosa is one of the outstanding black offspring that we produced out of our own Snowmass Midnight Sun. This line has been insinuated throughout our herd and has been a counterpoint in our grey breeding. Mom is a fixture in our foundation herd and had a brilliant show career.
