Sawdust Alpacas moved to Fallon, NV (home of Naval Air Station Fallon -the top gun Navy training facility) in Jan 2018. Lots of things happening around here the past 2 years and we continue to plan for the future of our property and alpacas. Hopefully, 2021 we will be able to move the store from our living room and office to a space of its own (novel idea, huh).

2020 has been challenging for us all, alpacas or not. We have seen a decline in the number of visitors to the ranch. We have not been able to have schools, nursing homes, or others come for tours. We have not been able to attend shows or community events. We miss that a lot. We did, however, send some of our fiber and yarn that we produced at the mill in Fernley to the National Fiber Extravaganza in Lebanon TN. We won 2 ribbons (2nd and 3rd places) for the fiber we entered and the 9 skeins of yarn we sent in won 5 Blues (1st), 3 Reds (2nd) and 1 Third.

We have had 6 crias born this year, 4 boys and 2 girls. They are all growing into beautiful juveniles. Alpacas born on our ranch all have wood names. So we have JC's Nambar, High Cotton, T'Zalam and Cameroon. Our girls are Mara and Jarrah. Our 2 dogs, Abbey (Great Pyrenees) and Snowball (Anatolian Shepherd/Pyrenees) continue to take good care of their pacas.

We became a destination host for the Harvest Host RV Travel. This has allowed us to have some visitors while social distancing per personal/county/state regulations. The visitors spend the night, get to meet the alpacas, help with chores if they wish, and check out the products in the store. We have met people from all across the US in the short time we have been working with Harvest Host. Check them out for your selves at harvesthosts.com

We will be starting some new programs soon - Adopt-A- Paca will be the first one. For a yearly fee, you will be able to adopt the alpaca of your choice. You will receive an adoption certificate, copy of AOA Registration, information monthly on your alpaca, etc. We are still in the process of determining all the details. Stay tuned. Hopefully this will be effective in December.

We hope that you are all well and staying safe in whatever manner that might be for you and your family.

Farm Terms & Financing

We will offer financing if you need that option. However, we reserve the right to keep the animals (at your expense) until your contract is paid in full. You will be charged a per diem fee (negotiable) while your animals are still on our ranch. You will need to carry your own insurance on the animals you purchase.

Welcome to Sawdust Alpacas

We have recently become a destination spot for Harvest Host RV Travel. We welcome you to come spend the night and meet the alpacas that provide the fiber used for some products in our store.
