About Us
Welcome to Colusa Riverside Alpacas
Colusa Riverside Alpaca Ranch located along the Auburn Wine Trail is proud to offer alpacas from seed stock (foundation animals) to non-breeders (or fiber alpacas). We offer breeding with some of the most exemplary white alpacas. We have been working hard over the past decades to selectively breed and purchase alpacas to achieve notable EPDs that we can now offer to our customers. Our herd sires are all highly ranked in fiber trait value EPDs tracked by the Alpaca Owner's Association (AOA). If you purchase gifted EPD foundation animals from us, you will be way ahead of the breeding curve over any competitor.
Our male lineup includes MAJESTIC’S A MAN AMONG MEN who is one of genetic basis for much of our breeding program. Many of our seed stock females have direct lineage to old world genetics from MSA Hemingway’s Bogart. Majestic’s A Man Among Men is one of the most elite-fibered alpacas in the nation. We are breeding for white alpacas with longevity and uniformity of fineness.
CRA owner Sheila provides consultation and education on how to use and understand EPDs. Take a look at the outline of the content she can provide for you or your group.
Expected Progeny Determination (EPDs)
EPDs will accurately predict fiber trait outcomes in your offspring. EPDs are the gold standard of all livestock industries. EPD use in the alpaca industry is a necessity to take your herd to the next levels of quality with each generation. If you buy a junior herd sire from us, he will be in the top ranking in AOA’s EPD program. We have been on the cutting edge of breeding through EPDs since the inception of our business. We hope you will consider EPDs and Colusa Riverside Alpacas in your breeding and purchase decisions.
